As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for administering the wage garnishments for Sunbelt's employees. You will do this by reviewing garnishment language to determine the scope, jurisdiction, applicability and timeframe of the garnishment and ensure correct and timely processing. This is also accomplished by maintaining/updating payroll records and acting as a liaison between profit centers, Field, Corporate staff and external agencies as it pertains to wage attachments.
Payroll Specialist responsibilities include:
Log and record all garnishment orders and subsequent details.
Review garnishment orders and thoroughly investigate whether any Sunbelt accounts are covered by the order of the garnishment.
Perform all data entry functions required to assure garnishment orders are withheld correctly and for the appropriate amount and timeframe.
Prepare and submit all necessary responses, answers and notifications to the employee, court and creditors as needed.
Ensure strict confidentiality of information.
Prepare reports and recommend procedures to improve organizational performance.
Accurately maintain Payroll files and records in a timely manner.
Scan all documents received to electronic storage as well as rename and attach to the employees electronic and paper payroll files.

Prior Payroll experience focusing on garnishments.
Experience using Ceridian.
Acute attention to detail with effective problem solving skills.
Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and set priorities.
Dependable, motivated and a self-starter.
Excellent communications skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
